In North American, Mitsubishi has steadily found itself not only falling behind its Japanese counterparts, but also Korean brands. But despite hardships, Mitsubishi attests that the brand isn’t leaving the U.S. market anytime soon.
One of the most important products to soon emerge from Mitsubishi, and solidify its standing here, is the all-new 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Just unveiled this week at the New York Auto Show, this new crossover it Mitsu’s answer to the Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4.
Slated to arrive in showrooms later this year, the 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport will be powered by a 148 horsepower 2.0-liter engine that will help this SUV deliver an impressive 30 miles per gallon. Transmission choices include a five-speed manual or a CVT. All-wheel drive will also be available for those that demand all-weather traction.
Overall, the Outlander Sport is expected to appeal to a wide range of consumers. While not as rugged as some offerings at Jeep Hartford for example, the Outlander Sport is true CUV that’s expected to have a very compliant, car-like ride. Even Midland MI GM observes that more consumers are demanding quiet, comfort, and efficiency in their crossovers, over more extreme capabilities.
While this new offering is most certainly as attractive, if no more, than many of its competitors, the 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport not only has to contend with segment mainstays like the aforementioned CR-V and RAV4, but also other all-new offerings such as the Nissan Juke, Kia Sportage, and Hyundai Tucson. The folks at Used Cars Albuquerque concur.
